We are so close to execution! We can’t wait! The team presented a revised budget for approval this week to kick-off the project as mentioned in our previous post. The budget was presented to Dr Nathan Amanquah, the acting dean of engineering for Ashesi University at the time of this post and an active stakeholder of the project. The meeting ended on a note that the team had to tighten certain lose nuts this week in order to forge ahead with steady speed during the weeks of execution. Dr Amanquah constructively suggested that the budget had to be strictly considered within the granted limit of 1000 Ghana cedis.
From further analysis of our budget and eliminating as many possible costs as we could we are currently left with only the very essential costs needed to be undertaken to commence the project. We cut out cost of a first aid kit, cost for protective gear and cost for a heating source. With these budget cuts, one may wonder how we plan to undertake this project let alone undertake it safely.
We managed to get these necessary items for free as Ashesi University had these readily available. On the other hand, we reduced the cost for miscellaneous items to 50 cedis and added a chemical cost of 170 cedis, to replace heating cost.
We have scheduled another meeting and hopefully our last meeting with Dr Nathan Amanquah to review the new budget this week so that we could finally get funding to commence our project.
