“Final boarding call! Final boarding call! All passengers of the colorful plastic victory flight should now be on board!”
It has been a long journey of planning and strategizing for the plastic road project. The team community liaison tied all the loose ends regarding the project last week with two main stakeholders of the project. He first has a meeting with Jude Acquaah, the Community Engagement Coordinator of Ashesi University College. Mr. Acquaah gave his full consent for the commencement of the project this week and requested to be updated regularly on the progress.
The second meeting was with the Operations Manager at Ashesi University, Mr. Casper Annie. Mr. Annie finally released a portion of the Ashesi road to the team for the testing of the plastic-bitumen mix. He said that part of the road was used by heavy-duty trucks and will be easy for observation on the durability of the road.
Finally, the procurement and logistics manager of the team, together with the assistant leader, purchased about 80% of the materials, tools and equipment needed for the project, last week. Some of the items procured include, safety wears (gloves, overalls, boots, nose masks), gravels, and plastic bottles. The rest of the pressing materials, hopefully, will be obtained before the 22nd March,2018. (These include, bitumen, DMSO, acetone, head pans and a roller)
The team is expected to test the road composites made from plastic on the 23rd and 24th of March,2018.
Stay tuned for more updates!!!!
